戴夫考兹在洛杉矶的圣法兰多山谷地区San Fernando Valley长大，最早是在大哥杰夫的乐团担任萨克斯风的吹奏起步，音乐旅程至今已经走过了20年，他从当年一个对萨克斯风相当著迷的乐手跻身为享誉国际的萨克斯风巨星。戴夫考兹从1990年进入Capitol厂牌发行首张同名专辑《Dave Koz》以来，总计创造了7张Billboard当代爵士专辑榜Top5佳绩。2002-2005年间，戴夫考兹连续4年4度获得葛莱美奖的提名。戴夫考兹的萨克斯风才华深获乐界的激赏，曾在录音室或演唱会场合上与Ray Charles、Celine Dion、U2、Rod Stewart、Julio Iglesias…等艺人/乐团合作。
